An engage education

Every engage student is provided with the opportunity to achieve success in the following: 

  • English

  • English Literature

  • Maths

  • Statistics

  • Science and Computer Science

  • Child Development

  • Health & Social Care

Vocational qualifications

Taught by specialist teachers with vast experience of raising standards of disengaged students including those in social care.  

These qualifications will include NCFE and VCTC qualifications in:

  • Barbering

  • Hair and Beauty

  • Construction

  • Plastering

  • Painting and Decorating

  • Sport

Outdoor education qualifications

Taught by specifically trained instructors with experience of raising standards and improving the performance of disengaged students.

Students will work through their Emergency First Aid at Work qualification as part of this programme of study.

Work-based learning

This will include weekly sessions on-site and also work experience placements with local businesses. These will be tailored to ensure all students have the opportunity to sample some of the following:

  • Painting & Decorating

  • Bricklaying

  • Plastering

  • Welding & Fabricating

  • Carpet fitting

  • Motor vehicle mechanics

  • Roofing

  • Hairdressing

  • Beauty treatments

  • Personal training

Personal development & post 16 progression routes

As well as the above, students will also receive regular PSHE sessions and specific IAG sessions to ensure there is a clear progression route when leaving engage to ensure no student becomes Not in Education, Employment or Training. This will include assistance in completing their CV, Portfolio of work and achievements, interviewing skills and regular college visits.
